MassDevelopment and the Mass Cultural Council provide funding through Commonwealth Places to advance community placemaking projects statewide. Placemaking aims to improve the quality of public places and the lives of communities in Massachusetts.
Envisioned are a series of lightscapes implemented by Berkshire Lightscapes (e.g. Dunham Mall, City Hall, and Park Square) to engage the public, provide events and social interaction. If successful, Commonwealth Places provides a 50-50 match up to $50,000. BL would need to raise $50,000 with assistance from State marketing consultants.
